5 Weeks in Korea

One of the blessings of summer adventures are new paths I discover.
Another part of the adventure is discovering a new city--Seoul.
Working with children is always a blessing for me-- their desire to learn and their love for life is an encouragement.
The last blessing is working with and developing new friendships. Mr. Choi and Rhianoana became very good friends.
I thought you might enjoy seeing a Korean manicure. It begins with picking very special flowers adding a mineral of some sort and crushing it together to make a paste.
The paste is applied to each nail bed and then individually wrapped.
This is how I went to bed! The next morning I removed the plastic wrap to reveal my new "beautiful" nails.
Actually, this picture makes them more beautiful. Did I mention this permanent until the first snow!! I am a little concern about the first snow as Redding doesn't always get snow in the winter.

Summer in South Korea

One of the many sites I was able to enjoy this summer was the Hwaseong Fortress which was built in1794. It was built to protect the area from invading armies. The fort is surrounded by the growing city of Suwon.
Lynn Wiens and I were in Korea for 5 weeks working at 5 different ESL camps throughtout the city of Seoul and Suwon. The tour of the fort was a nice break from teaching.

There was an interesting show of 24 different types of martial arts used to fight invading armies.
